Biggie Smalls Died Twenty-One Years Ago Today - Here Are Some Bangers To Get You Through To The Weekend

I’m going to keep this short. Today marks twenty-one years since The Notorious B.I.G. was shot to death in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles. He was twenty-four years old. It goes without saying that his music had an immeasurable impact on the culture. He didn’t mumble about pills and depression, he told stories. Listen to any song and you understand where the story takes place, what he’s talking about, and why he’s talking about it. Incredibly, as popular as his music was when it was first released, it’s more popular now. Young people bump Biggie just as much as the people who grew up with him.

We’ll never know the impact he could’ve made had he survived the shooting. I’m willing to bet music would look a lot different. Imagine him listening to some of the Sound Cloud rappers that are popular today? Snoop Dogg did and he almost lost his mind.

Still one of my favorite clips of all time.

If it seems weird that that I’m writing a tribute to Biggie Smalls, it is. I don’t know why I relate to the music but I do. Which is probably what makes it so good. Because everyone from skinny suburban white kids to underprivileged city kids and everyone in between can relate. Here are some of his hit songs to get you through the to the weekend. Enjoy.
