Not today. Time’s up, bitches. Been a long time coming.

Today is International Women’s Day, a time to celebrate and promote women we know, work with, love, and above all, respect. This year has taken on a more empowering, reactive tone in the wake of widespread issues of sexual harassment (#MeToo), gender inequality, and wage disparity being brought to the forefront. International Women’s Day isn’t just about women, it’s about equality, it’s about strong men supporting women and women supporting women. Barstool has so many female fans – they come up to me on the street, send me messages on instagram, some of them are close friends. They say “I wish the slogan said ‘Saturday’s Are For The Girls.'” Well, ladies today is.

While Barstool has long since deemed “Saturday’s Are For The Boys,” and has been – up until now – a predominantly male company, there is definitely a change in the tide. While other businesses are running from sexual harassment lawsuits, Barstool is promoting and empowering women to create content and do whatever the hell they want, something that is typically reserved to throwing to break, introducing the analysts, and being limited to the sideline in other sports media (fwiwrespect the hell out of all the women that work these jobs, and know first hand they can handle way more responsibility and spotlight than what they’re given). Since the moment I walked into this office, I have always felt as though I could be myself, say what I want, and speak up on topics even if other’s don’t agree with me (and that’s okay!).  This morning when I walked into HQ before Barstool Breakfast (7-9 am on Sirius XM 85), I took a photo with this flag I created for a sketch I was working on, of course it reads “Saturday’s Are For The Girls.” I sent this picture to El Pres asking if I could post it (didn’t want a lawsuit on my hands), and waited with bated breath to see how Dave would respond (could easily have been “new phone who dis”). I assumed that the answer would be no, that this place is “For the Common Man, By the Common Man” and that it just isn’t on brand to promote a girly thing like this. But, to his credit, Pres surprised me and even suggested that we create and sell these flags today. Girl Power!

We still have a lot of work today in the world, but look around HQ and BAM women everywhere. Running the company like a champion (Erika), managing money and hooking up badass partnerships (Deirdre), creating an incredibly sticky digital brand and audience (Ria & Fran), launching a new morning show while slaying the blog game (Liz), not to mention the badass that is Kayce Smith who is about to board the pirate ship next week, (and inevitably will be kicking ass), and of course all the incredible women we have in sales, marketing, business who are smarter than everyone at this company combined (pretty accurate).
