Small Heroes Make A Big Impact In The First Trailer For 'Ant-Man And The Wasp'

At what point am I just a Disney/Marvel shill? I pride myself on being honest with the readers, so I can’t sit here and tell you I DIDN’T think that was awesome and funny and all of that great stuff, but we’ve reached the point where this movie studio can’t move a muscle without giant boners emanating from my pants. Currently, they have 17 movies in their cinematic universe, and I really like 14 of them. The last time they made a movie I didn’t like was in 2015 (‘Age of Ultron’), and their last five movies were ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2′, ‘Doctor Strange’, and ‘Captain America: Civil War’. That’s a MURDERER’S ROW and they’re batting .824 lifetime. I can’t not get absofuckinglutely stoked for ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’! I have a little hesitation just because ‘Black Panther’ is on deck, and ‘Infinity War’ is after that, so I kinda have the “Don’t look past your opponent” mentality, but this is going to be so drastically different than both of those that I think it’s fine.

The first ‘Ant-Man’ was so amazing because of it’s uniqueness, as it pretty much broke the Marvel formula and acted as a heist movie. We also saw the filmmakers utilize Ant-Man’s superpowers in some incredibly creative ways, like the bathtub scene and the final fight scene with Yellowjacket…

…and I can already tell this sequel is just going to expand upon how many different directions they can go with Scott Lang’s powers and the tools used to give him those powers. The clip where they shrink a van down, drive it under another van, and then expand up, sending the normal sized van to the moon was awesome. The knife-run was awesome. The giant Hello Kitty PEZ dispenser being thrown at a motorcyclist was awesome. ALL OF IT IS AWESOME! I love how this wave of movies have treated the events of ‘Civil War’ with such importance, as they should’ve been treated. This was a major event for The Avengers and it’s not to be forgotten. Nobody can truly move on just yet because some serious shit went down and it’s gonna take time – and a common enemy – to get over.

The other huge factor in this movie is going to be the true introduction of Wasp. We saw her in the first film, but only as Hope van Dyne, not her insect-inspired alter ego. Evangeline Lilly (who I’ve been in love with her since LOST) is a really great actress and I think she’s going to add a ton to this world, and probably make Ant-Man feel less like a side character and more like a main hero while elevating herself to that level in the process. Michael Douglas is reprising his role as Dr. Hank Pym as well, and he shrunk an office building down into suitcase so he’s gonna be a baller.

This may be on the back burner for ‘Black Panther’ and ‘Infinity War’, but it’s time will come, and it’s going to pack a bite sized punch! Oh no, that’s a horrible way to end the blog. I don’t even know what that means? Shit. I’m going to stop myself here before things get worse.
