Jason Day IS Back! Wins At Torrey Pines On 6th Playoff Hole
All in all it was a weird finish at Torrey Pines. Alex Noren came to the 72nd hole last night, an easy par 5, needing birdie to win. He then had to wait about 3 hours to hit his second shot thanks to JB Holmes’ shenanigans, blasted one over the green, failed to get up-and-down, and eventually lost this morning on the 6th playoff hole to Jason Day.
The two played 5 extra holes last night, called it due to darkness, then returned this morning only for Noren to dump one in the drink, make bogey, and lose to Day’s tap-in birdie.
Impressive stuff this week from Jason Day, no doubt. He was CLUTCH in the playoff after stumbling down the back nine in regulation, and earned his first return to the winner’s circle since the 2016 Players Championship.
But this sucks for Alex Noren. I feel awful for him. The Swede made the decision to take up PGA Tour membership for the first time this year, and this was his first start since doing so. He played great, came to the 72nd hole with a chance to win, and got fucked by JB Holmes’ dogshit antics. Holmes took FOUR MINUTES AND TEN SECONDS to hit. That is an eternity. The “golf shot clock” being used on the Euro Tour this year gives players a 40-second period to hit; JB took 250 seconds, and Noren had to stand there with his dick in his hands the entire time before making the biggest wing of his life.
They then halved 5 holes, slept overnight, and Noren came out and did this.
Brutal. Feel bad for Noren, but he’s a world class talent and my instinct tells me he will win over here VERY soon.

Props to Jason Day adding his name to the many list of reasons 2018 is shaping up to be an epic year for golf fans.
