30 Years Ago Bill Raftery Introduced Us to a Legendary Call

So I couldn’t let this day go without blogging about this. Bill Raftery is my favorite human alive and 30 years ago today he had one of the most famous lines in college basketball history.

It’s absolutely perfect. From the Sean Miller steal and assist to the glass shattering to the screaming and then of course to the line. Send it in, Jerome. It’s so simple and so perfect. It’s one of those calls that everyone that watches college basketball knows and part of what makes Raft so great.

So with that in mind here’s some of his best work. But before that leave a comment or tweet me your favorite Raftery line. Personally I love the ‘why do lefties look so pretty?’ as Tayshaun Prince was in the middle of hitting 5 threes to start the game. But, it’s hard to argue with the man to man to start the games. The puppies are set. And of course ‘onions, double order!.’ God bless Raft.
