The Philadelphia Eagles Are Still Probably Going To Win The Super Bowl, Maybe

I feel bad for the Eagles. I really do. This was one of the greatest team wins in recent history. A full out effort and onslaught on both sides of the ball from (almost) start to finish against a similar good to great team…and all anyone is going to talk about is our Lord and Savior Ginger Jesus going down with a torn ACL. And rightfully so. Wentz is arguably the MVP of the league and definitely the leader of the Eagles. But let’s give the entire team and staff from top to bottom the credit they deserve for locking up the NFC East with a truly amazing victory.

The Birds were missing their top pass catcher in Ertz, so what happens? 8 different receivers step up their game and touch the football. Torrey Smith remembers his hands and goes for a cool 100 yards. Trey Trey All Day Burton locks in 2-TD’s. The defense didn’t play their best. The best rushing defense in the league somewhat contained one of the greatest backs in the game Gurley (96 yards, 2 TD’s still too much, but doable) and there were a couple long plays, especially to Cupp. But still, they were all over Goff the entire game and conquered the game when it mattered. The “Next Man Up” thing I’ll blatantly steal from the Patriots was never more evident than the end with Nicky Foles. #8 was been warming the bench all season and comes in to throw absolute DARTS on a true Big Dick’d drive. Look at this snipe.

The is a team, dammit, and this team FUCKS. They really do have that special, “It” factor thing going for them as the chemistry is off the charts. Seriously. Sure, we’ve had teams that have gelled and won before, but the only other Philly squad I’ve ever actually seen get along THIS well was the ’93 Phils (No shit, the Phillies didn’t win it all, but the chemistry/winning point stays). Let Chris Long explain it:

Now let’s hop on the backs of these boys and let’s keep it going. Let an unchained Chris Long lead the way and there may be no survivors.

As for Wentz, I’ll get more into that when the word is officially out. Right now they’re saying it could be just a partial tear and he can be back with rehab and a brace…which is so devastatingly Philly to cocktease hope before it all comes crashing down. An MRI will confirm what’s going down. Partial or not, this ain’t normal.

That knee is as loose as a goose. As an ACL tear survivor myself, I can say you can still put weight on the leg and do almost seemingly normal things with it torn. Especially with a brace. But the knee is just so unstable, especially with cutting, it would be an impossibility for Wentz to be his true self out there if he were to come back without the proper surgery and rehab.

Prayers up.

But in the end, the NFC rolls through the South Philly and Birds control their own destiny. Enjoy it. The Eagles have won the NFC East. Merrill says it, and so it be.

PS – Again, more later on the QB sitch, but people actually forget how good Nick Foles was at one point. Nick “THE FRANCHISE” (good God) is BACK.
