UFC Light Heavyweight Volkan Oezdemir Arrested For Aggravated Battery

MMAjunkie- Oezdemir was arrested Saturday in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and charged with aggravated battery causing bodily harm or disability. According to his arrest record, he was being held in the Broward County jail pending a bond hearing Sunday morning.

By mid-morning, his arrest record was updated to reflect he was being held on $10,000 bond, and later to reflect his release on bond was pending.

Yikes! Looks like Volkan Oezdemir may NOT get his UFC Light Heavyweight Championship shot he was supposed to at the beginning of the new year. This is all we know right now, so he may have been acting in self defense or he may have punted a baby. No idea. I’ll reserve judgement till we find out, but also, I’m hoping this propels Alexander Gustafsson into the #1 contender spot for DC’s title. The first fight between him and Daniel Cormier was came down to a razor thin split decision and I’d like to see that ran back, especially after Gus’ uppercut clinic he ran on Glover Teixeira a few months back.
