Ric Flair's 30 For 30 Was An Emotional Rollercoaster

Last night, Ric Flair’s 30 for 30, titled “Nature Boy” aired on a shitty sports network, and it was a really fantastic look at the wrestling legend. It actually followed his life much more than it did his in-ring career, and it was brutally honest about his faults. Never do you get the impression he was even a decent father/husband, and they didn’t shy AT ALL from the death of Reid, Ric’s son. From a guy who thought he knew everything about Naitch, I sure learned a lot. Here’s some of the most interesting shit to me:

-To learn to throw believable strikes, Ric hung a string in his doorway and “punched it as hard as he could for three years until the string didn’t move”.
-The Undertaker was out of character COMPLETELY, and it was fucking weird.
-Ric actually quit wrestling training early on, but Verne Gagne slapped the shit out of him and said he wasn’t allowed to.
-Road Warrior Animal was in full gimmick and looked very silly.
-Ric drank ten beers and five mixed drinks a day. And jerked off twice. Every day. Oh, and also had sex on top of that. Every day.
-Monogamy lasted literally 24 hours for the Nature Boy, he claimed he couldn’t sit in a house for a whole day with his kids. It was too boring.
-Hulk Hogan was incredibly complimentary of Flair and said he was “ten times better than me, no brainer”.
-Ric claims he realistically had sex with ten thousand women. If you do the math, and figure he was probably fucking from ages 15 to 60, you’ll realize that is a crazy low estimate. The real number is probably closer to fifteen thousand.
-The greatest moment of his career was watching Charlotte win her first championship live. That was heartwarming.

If you didn’t catch it, I give it my highest reccomendation (wrestling fan or not), and if you’d like to hear a more in depth review, listen to this week’s From The Top Rope. We spend the first 30 minutes on it.
