Barstool Sports Is Trending On Twitter Without Actually Doing Anything Which Begs The Question - Will Us Trending For No Controversy Cause Controversy?
Oh my God this is incredible. Barstool Sports is trending in the United States without actually doing a single thing wrong. Normally when this happens it’s because of some controversial blog, some tweet from KFC, some rant against cyclists by Feitelberg, Dave threatening to murder someone etc etc. But this time we didn’t do literally anything. We just woke up and existed. I mean I won’t lie, the second Big Cat said “hey why are we trending?” I sprinted (with my mouse – it’s figurative) to the site and scrolled through every single word of every single post looking for the source. But there was zero, zip, nada. No controversy, nothing. Just hit the trending map out of seemingly thin air.
Which raises two questions:
1) Has Barstool Sports created the first Twitter Trending Ponzi Scheme?
2) Will people still hate us and be mad at us despite seeing we didn’t actually do anything to upset them?
I’ve got a firm answer for this one-
A resounding yes!
Barstool Sports – occupying so much space in the internet’s brain we should charge rent.
