Money Always Wins: Daniel Craig Who Once Said He'd Rather Slash His Wrists Than Play Bond Again, Is Getting $135 MILLION To Play Bond Again

Daily Mail

His claims that his return as James Bond was ‘up in the air’ left fans shaken and stirred. But Daniel Craig performed a dramatic twist by confirming he would reprise his role as 007 – following reports that he was offered $135million (£100million) to return. It was a very rapid U-turn on the part of the 49-year-old, whose most recent appearance as the British spy was in 2015’s Spectre.

Craig, who is the second longest serving Bond after Roger Moore, previously suggested he was done with the franchise after his fourth appearance as the iconic spy in Spectre. During an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Tuesday, he was asked if he would be playing the iconic role for a fifth time. He replied: ‘Yes. I couldn’t be happier. I’ve been quite cagey about it. ‘I’ve been doing interviews about it all day and people have been asking me and I’ve been kind of coy but I kind of felt like, if I was going to speak the truth, I should speak the truth to you.’

This always begs the question, does everyone have a price? The answer is you’re goddamn right everyone has a price. One day we have Daniel Craig saying he’d rather die than be James Bond again…

And the next he’s smiling with Colbert announcing he’s going to be back as Bond one more time. But why? Oh, that’s right…he’s getting paid $135 MILLION FUCKING DOLLARS to act in one movie. I honestly gasped when I read it. That’s simply the most absurd thing I’ve ever read.

The top 5 paid roles in movies history are:

5. Tom Cruise- War of the Worlds $100 million
4. Bruce Willis- The Sixth Sense $120 million
3. Johnny Depp- All the Pirates of the Caribbean movies $185 million
2. Keanu Reeves- All Three Matrix Movies $262 million (WHAT THE FUCK)
1. Tom Cruise- All Mission Impossible Movies $290 million

For starters, Tom Cruise has stupid money. Like just laugh out loud, ridiculous money, but from my quick google search it looks like Craig is getting paid the most money ever for one single movie. All he had to do was threaten to kill himself to play the role and the studio execs were like alright we’ll just give you all the money we possibly have to come back.

The last bond movie, Spectre, cashed in a cool $880 million at the box office so it’s not like paying the best Bond ever to come back isn’t worth it. In the grand scheme of things, I’d say Craig is worth easily 17% of the profits considering he’s the driving force of the whole shebang. By the way, if you don’t think Craig is the best Bond ever you’re just an idiot. This chase scene from Casino Royale (one of my favorite movies hands down) is flat-out incredible.

Cheers to you Mr. Craig
