Guy Loses His Arm to a Crocodile Trying to Save His Dogs, Then Gets Charged with Trespassing

Chubbs

SourceA young entrepreneur working in Bengaluru is recovering in hospital after part of his arm was bitten off by a crocodile in a lake on the outskirts of the city. The Thattekere Lake is in a forested area.

Mudit Dandwate, a 26-year-old IIT graduate, managed to survive a crocodile attack but lost his left forearm on Sunday. According to what the injured man told the doctors, Mr Dandwate was visiting a temple in Ramanagaram district and was walking there after getting out of his car along with a friend and his two dogs. The dogs scampered off into the water, with Mr Dandwate following, when the crocodile attacked. …

“Since the crocodile may have eaten that part there was no possibility of reattachment,” the Medical Director of Hosmat hospital, Dr Ajith Benedict Rayan, told NDTV. …

The Ramanagaram Superintendent of Police, B Ramesh, told NDTV, that while no complaint had been made against him by anyone, but they had registered a case on their own as Mr Dandwate entered a restricted forest area without permission.

My geography knowledge is pretty limited to Epcot’s World Showcase and Disney’s Animal Kingdom, so I have to plead ignorance on the Ramanagraram district of Bengaluru. To the point where, if there was a Bengaluru category on Jeopardy or bar trivia, I’d time a pee break for those questions so I wouldn’t look stupid. I’m going to assume it’s where Bengal tigers come from. But it you told me it was part of Nova Scotia, I wouldn’t know the difference. But what I just learned about the place is that they do not suffer fools gladly over (up? down?) there.

Seriously this is one bad beat. To go from temple, to almost losing your dogs, to actually losing your arm down the digestive tract of a vicious, prehistoric death torpedo and then get charged with trespassing is the very definition of adding insult to injury. Especially when no one even lodged a complaint but Superintendent Ramesh decided to break balls anyway because his department doesn’t have time to go traipsing around Thattekere Lake to save victims of armed robbery. (Yes, I know exactly what I did.) That is obviously a place where the authorities don’t screw around.

If this was the States, we’d be talking about my man Mudit as the latest idiot bringing a frivolous lawsuit and Sean Hannity would do a week of outraged shows on the need for tort reform. It’d be wall-to-wall talk about the lady who sued McDonald’s because she burned herself with hot coffee and how sleazy lawyers are. I’d be bringing up the time some dopes tore down the goalposts in Foxboro and started carrying them up Rte 1 until they hit the high tension wires, got electrocuted and collect millions.

But not when the Ramanagaram P.D. is on the case. Then it’s just kiss our asses and we’ll see you at your arraignment, you stupid one-armed bastard. It’s a tough call as to which world I’d rather live in, but I think I’ll take Supt. Ramesh’s tough love approach. Until I lose an arm trying to save my dogs. Then it’s Better Call Saul for this guy. Get well soon, Mudat.
