Off Duty Cop Dressed as Batman Nails a Perp Stealing the Lego Batman Movie

Batman

SourceWhile shoplifting four DVDs from Walmart in Saturday, a Fort Worth man probably did not expect to be brought to justice by The Dark Knight. But that is exactly what happened.

Fort Worth Police officer Damon Cole dresses up as superheroes for a good cause. …

Cole was dressed as Batman at a kids safety fair on Saturday when he was alerted to a man suspected of shoplifting four movies. …

The suspect did not want to talk about his arrest, but he did take a selfie with Batman after being arrested.

The irony of the situation is that he was attempting to steal the Lego Batman movie.

First things first: The Lego Batman Movie is the balls. I rented it OnDemand over Father’s Day weekend and had to re-watch it while I still had it because the Jokes Per Minute rate is higher than 30 Rock in its prime. So while I don’t condone the crime, I understand how this perp could be driven to it.

Second of, good for Officer Damon Cole. There’s not a boy who’s grown up in the United States or the civilized world in the last 80 years who didn’t dream of putting on the cape and cowl and bringing a bad guy to justice. Not. One. Hell, it’s still an unchecked item on my Bucket List. And while I should be jealous he’s living my dream, I don’t nearly begrudge him the way I do, say, the guy who gets to do it with Kate Beckinsale. I’ll say that if I was him, I might have taken myself off the clock first. Because it’s just unfair to live even one moment as a dark, tortured, asskicking vigilante of the night bringing justice out of chaos and get paid for it.

But maybe I really am just jealous. Because this is the closest I’ve ever come:

Batmobile

Clearly I’ve thought about this long enough and am long overdue for a little Treat Yo Self.
