SourceWhite House Press Secretary Sean Spicer will step back from giving reporters the daily press briefing and is searching for his replacement at the podium.

“We have sought input from many people as we look to expand our communications operation. As he did in the beginning, Sean Spicer is managing both the communications and press office,” White House officials said in a statement Monday.

Spicer will continue to fill the duties of the communications director – a post that has been empty since the end of May after the resignation of Mike Dubke.

Sad day. I love me some Spicer. Guy is the man. I couldn’t even imagine a better face for the Trump administration. A lost puppy sent out there every day to face the world. Given the wrong information and told to defend that information. Told what to say, only to have the President immediately contradict on twitter what Spicer said. Sent out there day ONE to adamantly deny the very obvious fact that Obama’s inauguration crowd was larger than Trump’s. Poor bastard never stood a chance, and that’s why we love him. There’s something intriguing about watching a creature destined to fail battling his hardest to achieve success.

This all comes at an interesting time. Yesterday, CNN White House correspondent Jim Acosta chronicled how the White House did not allow audio or video at yesterday’s briefing.

A fair point. It’s uncommon for the press to be shutout for multiple days at a time, or for audio/video of the White House’s message to be disallowed, but not totally unprecedented. Especially when the communications team is going through a shakeup.

While Spicer interviews for his replacement, he did take the podium this afternoon, briefing the press and answering questions.

Frankly, I think Acosta just likes to show off his hair.

PS — Bannon with some fat-shaming. Nothing bad has ever come from that.
