Footage Of Bruce Lee's Only Real Fight Ever Recorded Was Released And It's Badass

YouTube- This is the only recording of Bruce Lee in a real MMA fight. He’s fighting Ted Wong here, one of his top students. They are wearing protective gear beacause they were NOT ALLOWED to fight without them. Those were the state rules at the time. If not for those rules I can guarantee you that Bruce would have fought bare-knuckled. Footage is restored to 4K resolution. Enjoy.

I’ll admit that I’ve never been a big Bruce Lee guy. Not because I didn’t like him or anything. I just never got into kung fu or kung fu movies as a kid. But I think I’m ready to become a Bruce Lee fan after watching this video. Shit, I may even go on a kung fu movie binge like Peter and Jennifer Aniston from Office Space after seeing that video (btw do they ever mention her name is Joanna in that movie?).

I always knew Bruce Lee was awesome at kung fu. But I didn’t realize he is basically Neo in The Matrix. A real life cheat code. Everything seems to be in slow motion for Bruce while his opponent can’t even get past his hand. The only way that student could have looked worse is if Bruce started making him hit himself and say “Why are you hitting yourself?” over and over. Or if he pulled this oldie but goodie out of his bag of tricks.

It’s like when my daughter wants to play me in Street Fighter II and I just pulverize the shit out of her with Ryu. I don’t do it because I want her to feel sad or bad about herself. I do it because I want her to know that I am the alpha in our house. Plus hearing the announcer say “Perfect!” as a cascade of points ring in never gets old.

Also, how is this the only footage of a real Bruce Lee fight we have ever seen? There are like 25 people holding cameras in this video alone. I guess fear that Bruce Lee would kick your ass if you leaked his fights could scare anyone from selling it online, no matter how long he’s been dead. If anyone could appear from the other side of the grave, it’s a kung fu master since I’m pretty sure they are the closest things we have to Jedis in the real world. Bruce still may haunt the guy that released this video just because the music sounds more like an E:60 segment about a kid overcoming tough break in life (like every other segment they ever ran) instead of the greatest kung fu legend ever fighting circles around his pupil. Give me Ken’s music from Street Fighter II over that sappy song any day of the week.

And yes I know Guile’s theme is better, but I think that’s more of an armed forces and Ken’s is more martial artsy.

Actually you know what? Fuck it. It’s Flag Day as well as the U.S. Army’s birthday. You get Guile’s music as well!
