Ouchhhhhh. Manny Machado left tonight’s game after being spiked (tried to embed the video but MLB video is a monster) on his wrist during a slide by Andrew McCutchen as he tried to steal third in the fourth inning. The official ruling was a “sore left wrist”. Not exactly what you want to see happen to your All-Star caliber third baseman, but as us Orioles fans know, slides happen and people get hurt sometimes. No it wasn’t intentional, no McCutchen didn’t meant to hurt him, and no the Orioles won’t retaliate. They won’t throw at anyone because you can clearly see that it wasn’t intentional and injuries happen, strange how some teams don’t get that though. You can see Cutch’s cleat get Manny’s wrist, and then stick into his wrist tape, which certainly didn’t help the situation. People forget that Manny hurt that wrist on Opening Day on one of his unreal plays.

Manny stayed in the game and finished the inning, but was replaced with the newly acquired, Ruben Tejada when it was his spot in the lineup. Manny seemed to finally be settling down, and even though we’re a week into the month, was having his best month of the season, batting .300/.333/1.033 with 2 homers before last night’s game. June 7th is a weird day in Manny’s career too. He was drafted on this date back in 2010, June 7th last year he knocked Yordano Ventura’s lights out, and this year, he gets spiked on a tag. May want him to sit out on June 7th, 2018.

Obviously hoping this isn’t a big injury, and it was just a precaution. With the Nationals tomorrow, and the Yankees over the weekend, the Orioles need Manny back in the lineup to try and get some of these games back.
