It Sounds Like A Super Nintendo World Is Going To Be Created At Universal Studios And It May Include A Mario Kart Ride

Comicbook.com-
You may remember our report that Nintendo and Universal are teaming up to open a Nintendo theme park (watch the official announcement trailer above). This will be a new section of Universal Studios theme parks in Hollywood, Orlando, and Osaka. Last week Nintendo filed the trademark (found here) revealing the official name for its park which is, not surprisingly, going to be “Super Nintendo World.” We dig it. In the trademark listing there are all kinds of details that hint at what kinds of merchandise, events, and rides might be included in the park. You should note that a lot of this is preliminary — a laying of the groundwork, if you will — so it’s possible that not everything mentioned will come to fruition. There are some rumored rides receiving some official corroboration here, though. For instance, we’re all expecting some kind of Mario Kart attraction, and this was alluded to directly in part of the filing. See below:

“…organization, management or arrangement of entertainment shows and events, namely, amusement park shows and special events at an amusement park; organization, management or arrangement of kart racing; organization, management or arrangement of motorcycle events and other events with vehicles; providing amusement facilities; providing amusement parks services” (emphasis ours).

Someone tell Mickey and the rest of the gang at Disney World that Universal is coming for that number 1 spot with a motherfucking blue shell. Okay that’s a bit strong. The Mouse and Co. still have the amusement park industry by the balls no matter how many subscribers ESPN. But still, between Springfield, Harry Potter, and Nintendo, Disney better recognize Universal is coming for that ass. I actually thought about visiting Universal after Robbie and I finished our Star Wars video. But considering it was like $120 for a one day ticket and the only thing I really wanted to see was some of my favorite Simpsons hangouts like Moe’s Tavern or Krusty Burger (I’m not a Harry Potter guy), it was a hard pass.

However the thought of being able to shoot some red shells at strangers or becoming the closest thing a human can be to a God thanks to Star power on Rainbow Road may have gotten me to fork over a Benjamin. And if you add an interactive Punch Out exhibit, a Goldeneye ride, and Giant World from Mario 3, you better believe my dumbass will be willing drop more than a C-note to visit an amusement park by myself.

The thing I don’t understand is how I missed the original announcement about Super Nintendo World coming to Universal. My radars are usually up for nonsensical shit like this. It’s what I get paid for. I guess I was spending my time just staring at my fantasy football team and the waiver wire instead of scouring the news wire (read: Twitter) for the actual announcement.

But now that this is apparently close to becoming a reality, we can start dreaming. For one, I need Peach Beach to be some sort of waterpark resort at the park. Visiting Peach Beach is number 1 on my bucket list and I fully acknowledge it’s not even real life (yet). I don’t give a flying fuck about organic food, but if you named a restaurant after Moo Moo Farms, I would definitely pay the 300% markup for some farm-to-table food. And of course Super Nintendo World would need a tattoo parlor for people that lose tattoo bets in Mario Kart. Just kidding who would actually bet a tattoo on a game of Mario Kart?

Actually lets just focus on knocking Peach Beach out of the park, maybe throw in an archery game for the Zelda heads, an F-Zero racetrack for a game that definitely should have been better than it was, a Donkey Kong Country jungle gym (complete with barrels that shoot you like cannons), and warp pipes to somehow suck you from one location to the next.

And to be clear, while Super Nintendo World should be awesome, Disney is still pumping out Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land in the near future, which honestly will probably stuff Mario and Luigi into a bodybag because that’s what Disney does. But in the meantime Super Nintendo World is definitely something to get excited about.
