Wake Up With Rick Monday Hitting A Go-Ahead Home Run In The 9th Inning Of NLCS Game 5 (1981)

When you hear the name “Rick Monday”, you more than likely think of that April day over 40 years ago when protesters snuck onto the field to light an American flag on fire, but NOT ON RICK MONDAY’S WATCH! Monday ran across the outfield and scooped the flag up before they could burn it, immediately achieving American hero status.

But while he’ll always be remembered for that moment first, he actually had some pretty memorable baseball moments, like this go-ahead home run in the series-clinching Game 5 of the 1981 NLCS, which propelled the Dodgers into the World Series. The Dodgers went on to win that World Series, defeating the Yankees in six games.
