Wake Up With Dave Stieb Losing A Perfect Game With Two Outs And Two Strikes In The 9th Inning (1989)

I don’t know how guys keep their composure on the mound when shit like this happens. We’ve seen it more than once — pitchers losing a no-hitter or a perfect game in the 9th inning, sometimes with two outs and even two strikes — but I would absolutely blow a gasket if that ever happened to me. This happened to Dave Stieb FOUR TIMES. This poor son of a bitch took a no-hitter into the 9th inning in 1985 and lost it. He also had a no-hitter going with two outs and two strikes in the ninth inning in EACH of his final two starts of the 1988 season, both of which were broken up. Then, he had this perfect game broken up with two outs and two strikes in 1989, too. But, thank God, he finally got his elusive no-hitter in September of 1990 against the Indians.
