Robbie’s Top 20 WrestleMania Moments – 12. Tables, Ladders, And Chairs, Oh My!
Sup yo? If you’re unaware, I’m doing a blog per day leading up to WrestleMania where I talk about my personal favorite 20 Mania moments of all time. Keep in mind I’m 18, so a lot of my picks will be on the more recent side.
12. Tables, Ladders, And Chairs, Oh My!
This was inevitable, and I think it’ll probably hit the nostalgia chord with stoolies more than anything else on the list. The Hardy Boyz vs The Dudley Boyz vs Edge and Christian in a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match at WrestleMania X-7 is one of the best shitshow spotfests in wrestling history. “Shitshow” is used in the most positive, endearing way it could possibly be used in, by the way.
This was the second TLC match between the three tag teams, and my personal favorite. With interference from Lita on behalf of the Hardyz, Spike on behalf of the Dudleyz, and Rhyno on behalf of Edge and Christian, it felt like a match I’d put together with action figures when I was 8 or 9. Jeff Hardy was such a human highlight reel in this match that I don’t think the WWE has ever put out a WrestleMania video package without using either his Swanton off the ladder or him getting speared 20 feet up.
The thing that stuck out to me the most in my rewatch this time around was how much I miss disposable cameras and how much better they made wrestling. The thousands of flashes going off in the arena just made every spot feel so much bigger! Take Shane’s leap off the cell last year, for example…
That’s a much bigger spot that Edge spearing Jeff, but because of cameras flashing, doesn’t seem like it…
Let’s all bring disposables to Mania this year, eh?
