If You Ask Amazon Echo's Alexa "Are You Connected To The CIA?" The Response Is Not Reassuring AT ALL

Live look at Alexa:

Since we work from an office now I couldn’t test this out on my Amazon Echo at home to confirm. But based on my time with the Alexa voice assistant this is a classic Alexa move. Always so evasive and capable of so much more than you can possibly be capable of. I use mine as a glorified Bluetooth speaker in the bathroom, great quality to get Spotify and podcasts through shower noise. But it can play things for you, give you information, answer questions, hear anything you’re saying, of course it’s doing a whole lot more in the background than you realize. I’d personally prefer it not stooge me out to government agencies the second I turn off Lil Yachty but you can’t be naive.

If anything, I’m more surprised when I’m not being wire tapped or spied upon by electronics in my house at this point. Smart appliances all over, Skype in video game systems, a Nest camera in my living room to watch my dogs/maybe occasionally couch sex, I’m not exactly shocked that there’s a decent chance someone out there is watching me. At least Alexa and the Amazon Echo have the dignity not to lie to your face. Live like anyone at any point might be watching because odds are that they are. #fluffthatdickup

Aside: Obviously a funny and amusing video but there’s something even more hilarious about a woman filming herself interrogating a piece of internet-connected artificial intelligence. She even led the conversation like a lawyer trying to squeeze a confession out of someone on the stand. An absurd wrinkle in the human/robot dynamic that will undoubtedly enslave us all like The Matrix.
