If You Steal From People In Mexico, An Angry Mob Just May String You Up In A Tree By Your Wrists

Daily Mail- A man accused of being a burglar was left hanging from a tree by neighbours. Eyewitnesses said the man, named only as Virgilio, 30, was caught breaking into a house in the village of Santa Maria Asuncion near the city of Tulancingo in the eastern Mexico’s Hidalgo state. It has been claimed that neighbours then grabbed the man, beat him up and hanged him from a tall tree by his wrists.

But officers, who had received a call about the burglary, arrived on the scene and then had to rescue the alleged thief. They found him swinging surrounded by an angry mob of about 80 local residents. Videos filmed by eyewitnesses with their smartphones show Virgilio swinging from a high branch from his wrists with his arms behind his back. An observer claimed the force was attacked by the mob when they intervened to cut the man down from the tree. Two officers suffered minor injuries and a police patrol car as damaged in the disturbance.

I love this move for two reasons.

1. Seeing some shlep hanging from a tree by his wrists is funny. Well let me clarify. Seeing some shlep that was allegedly a burglar hanging from a tree by his wrists is hilarious, especially if you have ever had anything stolen from you. I have watched that video of poor Virgilio swinging back and forth at least five times and had myself a hearty chuckle at his dickhead’s expense every single time. Especially when the church bells ring. That just felt like the angry mob was running up the score.

2. It is genius. I guarantee the crime rate in Santa Maria Asuncion plummets after this shit went down. It’s like catching a mouse in a mousetrap and leaving it out for all the other mice to see. Over here in the States, we have neighborhood watch communities. Down in Mexico, you have angry mobs. Gotta score this as a point for the amigos down South in the category of crime fighting.

And while I don’t know if attacking the police was the best strategy, I do know that those cops will either be on Coughlin Time next time a 911 call comes in or the cops will just let the Santa Maria people instill their own justice system, which will almost definitely lead to more blogs on this site.
