Very Excited That The NHL Was Able To Land "Now That's What I Call Music 74" For The All Star Game Musical Performance

It’s no secret that the NHL typically shits the bed when it comes to booking music artists for their events. Aside from OAR a couple of All Star Games ago and Nelly at the Winter Classic this year, they generally stick to Fall Out Boy and Fall Out Boy cover bands. But with the All Star Game going to Hollywood next weekend, they went all out and it turns out that NHL All Star Weekend is about to be the hottest music festival of the year.

Nick Jonas? Fucks.  Carly Rae Jepsen? Bangs. Fifth Harmony? Well… if you check their underlying metrics this season you’ll notice they are hardly All Stars. “Work From Home” is a hot track, sure, but they’re on a permanent penalty kill now that one of the chicks left the band and there’s only 4 of them. It doesn’t take an expert like myself to realize that playing with 5 girls on the ice is a better situation than playing with only 4. With that being said, Jonathan Toews is hardly an All Star this year and he made the cut as well. So I guess it’s only fair that Fifth Harmony gets their shot as well.

I’m still not overly convinced that Fall Out Boy won’t show up at some point during the performance. The NHL’s boner for “Centuries” could poke an eye out. But at least they’re making an attempt to appeal to a demographic outside of the NHL’s usual target audience. I mean, this lineup is still incredibly white. It’s not like they went out and they got Migos or something. But I guess they’re trying to bring in a little younger audience now which is great considering the average age in the league is pretty much 19 now.

So now… without further ado… let’s fuggin’ jam.

^^ best version of “Jealous” and I refuse to hear otherwise.

Call Me Maybe still bumps and you’re an asshole if you disagree.

I’ll be totally honest–I wouldn’t mind if Fifth Harmony just “Worked From Home” for this All Star Game.
