LAPORTE COUNTY — New information about the man who is accused of killing his girlfriend’s pet donkey. Olvydas Abromavicius, 50, was taken into custody Sunday night after police in LaPorte County responded to a domestic dispute on North Wilhelm Road. Police say he was arguing with his girlfriend. While at the home, they found the miniature donkey, “Jack,” shot and struggling to survive outside.
LaPorte County police called Jane Bernard, with the LaPorte County Small Animal Shelter, and a vet to the scene, where they found Jack bleeding profusely from the head. They believe he was about five-years-old. Police say Abromavicius wasn’t armed when they got there.
“It was really sad to see this poor donkey basically laying there dead,” said Bernard.

I’m a constitution guy, so I believe that people are innocent until proven guilty. But, on the other hand, I’m also a gut guy, so I know a donkey murdering son of a bitch when I see one. One look at that smirk on Olvydas’ face and I knew he was the donkey’s trigger man. One minute you’re cruising around your back yard and just eating grass and whathaveyou, the next minute you have a bullet in the back of your brain.

I understand that passionate arguments happen when people are wildly in love. Unbridled passion often times is met by irrational behavior. That’s the nature of love, folks. We are carnal creatures who try to hurt those whom we love the most. Tale as old as time type stuff. While I understand that Olvydas probably thought that the best way to get back at his wife was by killing her beloved donkey Jack, I can’t support that. You must not ever kill your spouse’s donkey in the heat of the moment. Instead, count to ten. Do some yoga. Clean up a little bit. Get out that frustration with a little elbow grease. Poor Jack didn’t deserve to die. I know that. You know that. And deep down inside, Olvydas knows that.
