The Lady Terps Beat Bluefield State 146-17, Shutting Them Out In the Second Half

You’ve always talked about it when watching these preseason lopsided games or the last couple years of the Sixers. You’ve joked “heh, maybe they’ll shut them out”, but it never happens. Someone makes an awkward layup or hits a few free throws and the score at the half is like 45-15. Well, flash forward to last night, because it finally happened. The Lady Terps shut out Bluefield State, a college best known for being written about in this blog, for the entire 2nd half, and finished the game on a 78-0 run.

If you’re the coach of Bluefield State, on the team, or affiliated with the school, I think you just have to quit? I don’t know how you come back from that. You don’t get shut out in basketball. Someone trips and a shot goes in. I don’t care if it was a scrimmage or not, if you lose like that, unless you’re the school for the blind, you hang up your sneakers and call it a career.

Kinda sick Bluefield still shot 25% from 3. Bad perimeter defense from the Terps, definitely something they need to focus on moving forward. Also, Bluefield turning the ball over 51 times is surreal. It’s like every time they dribbled down the court they just rolled the ball over to the Terps. 51 times. Nuts.

I don’t even know what you’re supposed to do as a team in that situation? You have to just keep playing your game, keep taking the easy buckets. You can’t take a knee or anything like that, and you can’t just not play defense either. My only solution is they could have played 5 on 4, that would have at least given the Terps more of a conditioning workout.

And RDT wants to add that these Lady Terps are the real deal. After a early exit last year in March, they should be there in the end, just like in years past. They’re picked to win the B1G this season, and have the #1 recruiting class coming into College Park this season, mark my words, this won’t be the last 129 point win for Brenda Frese and the Lady Terps.

And this was without a doubt the longest women’s basketball blog in Barstool history and I think it was pretty good too.
