Pussification Of Canada: PeeWee Hockey Coach Gets Season Long Suspension For Punishing Players With Push-Ups

Puck Daddy – The coach of a Pee wee team in Quebec has been suspended for the rest of the season after forcing his players to do hundreds of pushups following a loss on Sept. 18.

CTV News reported the suspension and noted that some of the players missed school the following day after the incident. CJAD reported that some had to visit doctors after the practice.

According to a Montreal Gazette story from early October, Louis Isabella, who coaches the Lac St-Louis AAA pee-wee team, reportedly made players age 11 and 12 do in between 100 and 350 pushups after the 7-2 loss.

Are you kidding me? You can’t possibly be serious, Canada. Please tell me that you are joking.

I realize that kids in Quebec tend to be more of the pretty-boy type of players (Not pretty boy in the way that Curt Schilling would use the phrase but pretty boy like soft and flashy). I mean, this is a complete non-story if it goes down in Alberta. Those kids are born on the farm and they’ll do 100-350 pushups before AND after every game. The French Canadians, however, are a different breed. So it makes sense that these Quebecois snot-nosed little brats had to miss school the next day because their wittle arms huwrt too much because they had to do too many pushups. But do you not see that score? 7-2. SEVEN-to-two. What was this coach supposed to do here? Take little Alexandre and Guy out to Tim Horton’s after the game and tell them “good effort, eh?” Fat chance. I seem to remember a coach that went by the name of Herb Brooks who took a similar approach to teaching his team a lesson and last I checked, it worked out pretty damn well for them. And that was after a tie. But sure, suspend this guy for the rest of the season because he was emulating one of the greatest hockey coaches of all time. Makes plenty of sense…

Back in my day PeeWee hockey coaches would endanger the entire team’s lives by driving them in a limo over a frozen pond and then bang their moms after practice. But I guess times have changed. I guess you can’t even physically torture 11-12 year old kids anymore after a loss to make sure they don’t play like a bunch of pussies again. It’s sad but I guess that’s just the reality of the situation.
