Some Guy Went Ballistic At An Apple Store In France And Started Smashing iPhones, iPads, And MacBooks

Mashable- An angry French customer walked into an Apple Store in Dijon and, armed with a steel ball used in the bowling game pétanque, started smashing iPhones, iPads and MacBooks. As other people try to stop him, the guy, believed to be in his thirties, shouts: “Apple is a company that ‘violated’ European consumers’ rights. They refused to reimburse me, I told them: ‘Give me my money back’. They said no. So you know what’s happening? This is happening!” – before wrecking another iPhone.

Eventually, the man was approached by a security guard and arrested by police, French media report. He was placed into custody and an investigation is under way. The damage is estimated at thousands of euros.

When I first watched this video, I had a hard time making it to the end. Such senseless violence against such beautiful products. But once I read up on what this guy’s reasoning was, I stood firmly behind him. We have all been at our breaking points with a company when they fuck us over. Maybe you have had multiple Apple products die the day after their Apple Care expired. Maybe you didn’t realize that the new iPhone didn’t have a headphone jack. Or maybe some other faceless corporation showered your ass with lemons and you were sick of trying to make some shitty lemonade.

Regardless of the reason, we have all been at the point where we just want to start smashing shit. Now I gotta be honest, this guy being French (I think?) was an M. Night Shyamalan twist. For decades, the French have been known to just roll over and wave their white flag. But not this guy. He made his point, even though I think bringing a metal ball to smash defenseless electronics is a huge pussy move. If I really wanted to get my point across, I would have just Gronk Spiked everything I saw. Because there is no way some Apple Genius that spends his days trying to explain the Cloud to old people is going to try to stop anyone’s ass. I guess that’s one of the big differences between Americans and the French.

But at the end of the day, I am just happy this wasn’t some guy complaining about Apple labor in China when 90% of the other stuff he owns was probably built in those same sweatshops or that he was one of those Android/PC people that was acting out after spending his whole life talking about how crappy Apple products are. Nobody has time for that nonsense.
