Prosecutors In The Bridgegate Case Assert Chris Christie Knew About The Lane Closings From The Very Beginning

NY Times – Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey knew that three of his top officials were involved in a plan to shut down lanes leading to the George Washington Bridge as it was happening and that the closings were intended to punish a local mayor for declining to support him, federal prosecutors said on Monday. The assertion was an unexpected and startling beginning to the trial of two former Christie administration officials charged with closing the lanes in 2013 and then covering it up. And it was a surprising claim because of the side of the courtroom it came from, as lawyers made opening statements. Defense lawyers have long argued that Mr. Christie, a Republican, and his top advisers were well aware of the lane closings and that they directed the cover-up as they tried to protect the governor’s political aspirations — saying their clients were “thrown under the presidential bus,” as one lawyer argued on Monday. But this was the first time a prosecutor had pointed a finger at Mr. Christie. And it directly contradicts the governor’s statements in the three years since the lanes were mysteriously closed, paralyzing the borough of Fort Lee, N.J.

Let me just start by saying I’m a Chris Christie guy. I love him. I love that he loves the Mets. I love that he has an ENORMOUS Fupa that defies the physical boundaries of the human body. I love that he basically said fuck my political career, I’m probably gonna go do sports radio. And I thought he did a pretty awesome job in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

So, I’m bias toward the Fat Man. But putting all that aside let me say this loud and clear:

If you give ONE SINGLE FUCK about Bridgegate you are a loser of unimaginable proportions. “There was traffic on the George Washington Bridge! Try this man for treason!” Gimme a goddam break. And spare me with the ambulances nonsense. Some old lady died and it had absolutely nothing to do with the traffic caused by the bridge and thats about it. The “ambulances” argument is the most ridiculous thing in the world. I did it with the protesters when they were blocking roads. “What if ambulances cant reach people in an emergency!?” Meanwhile what I really meant was “I fucking hate those people and I’m looking for a tangible reason to call them stupid.”

If you dont like Chris Christie and his politics, thats fine. But spare me with the outrage and concern over some fucking traffic on the George Washington Bridge. He didnt know about it, he did know about it – green jacket, gold jacket, who gives a shit. We’re talking bout TRAFFIC. Traffic man. We talkin bout TRAFFIC. Stop pretending he was responsible for murdering troops or something.
