Phil Mickelson Just Came THIS CLOSE To Posting The First 62 In Majors History

Wowowowowowowow. Pretty much as close as you can get right there. Phil played a near-perfect round of golf at Royal Troon today. He set himself up to achieve the elusive 62 in a major if he birdied 17 and 18. He birdied 17 with an incredible putt and then juuuuuuuuuuust missed his 16-foot birdie putt on 18. Leaving him with a 63. Brutal. A lip out for the ages. The announcer even yelled, “It’s in!” Unreal. Nick Price had a putt lip out in 1986 at the Masters going for 62. Tiger had a lip out in 2007 at the PGA Championship going for 62. Now Phil has his 62 lip out. Absolutely brutal. Still no 62 ever in major. There’s a whole bunch of 63s but no 62s. Still a hell of a round from Lefty.
