“Good god almighty, good god almighty, that killed him! As God as my witness he is broken in half!!” – Jim Ross

18 years ago today, Mick Foley climbed to the top of Hell in a Cell, and the Undertaker tossed him right the fuck off in what has to be, still to this day, the most famous spot in WWE history. I was at Mania and saw Shane jump off the top of the Cell, and it is a longggggg way down. And Shane took a pretty solid bump, Foley was ragdolled the fuck off of the Cell, just insane. I’ve probably seen the clip 500 times and it still doesn’t cease to amaze me.

But then what happened next….

That right there, was not planned. Can you imagine thinking you’re about to just take a normal choke slam and then you end up falling 15 feet with a steal chair landing on your face? The doctors rushed in because they actually thought he could be dead.

And that was all within the first 10 minutes of the match. Absolute legend.

PS: This match alone shows how important commentary is to the WWE as a hole. Good ol JR can never be replicated, but they can do about 10000000 times better than what they have now. It’s such an integral part of the viewing experience, and the current announcers are horrific.
