And down goes another one. We had Rory bow out last week and now we’ve got world #1 Jason Day bowing out this week. It’s exactly what we though would happen. Once one big name decided to pull out, others will follow. I’ll say pretty much the same thing I said when Rory announced that he wasn’t playing. There is ZERO history with golf in the Olympics. Zero. Every other sport in the Olympics has a rich history and a reason to compete. Golf has none. No way I would wanna risk getting shot or having my wife contract a disease just to potentially win a medal in an event that is still in it’s infancy. I fully support Jason’s decision mostly because I would’ve been devastated if something had happening to Dash Day while down in Rio. I don’t need that stress on my mind.

I will say this, it could not be worse timing for golf to dip it’s toe into the Olympic water with this zika shit. Golf in the Olympics would be super awesome if all of the big names were playing. No one is denying that. But it just so happens that the first time since 1904 that golf wanted to get back into the Olympics that some super pregnancy disease popped up and is making every pull out. Rough stuff. Whatever though. The Ryder Cup is still happening and it’s better anyway.
