Stephen Hawking Says Humans Might Not Survive Another 100 Years And I'm Getting Pretty Sick Of His Predictions

AOL- According to Stephen Hawking, the human race is in danger of being wiped out in the next 100 years, and it’s all our own fault. According to the BBC, the physicist says he believes humanity will face dangerous scenarios of our own making during the next century, including nuclear war, global warming and genetically-engineered viruses. And he told the Radio Times further progress in science and technology could increase that risk. “We are not going to stop making progress, or reverse it, so we must [recognize] the dangers and control them.” Of course, Hawking has voiced his concerns on this topic before. Just last year, he warned that artificial intelligence could wipe out the human race. These latest comments come just days before Hawking is scheduled to give this year’s BBC Reith Lectures, which will explore research into black holes.

I’m fucking sick of Stephen Hawking.  I really am.  I get that he’s like the smartest dude in the world and he has done amazing things but I’m sick of his doom-and-gloom predictions for the human race. It’s never good news. Hawking and his David Portnoy neck are never like, “We are the greatest species to ever grace this universe and soon enough there will be cotton candy fields all over the place.”  It’s never that.  It’s always some form of, “We are totally and completely fucked, you guys.” Stop it. We know we’re totally and completely fucked. We know that, Stephen. You’d have to have a Manitowoc*-level IQ to not realize it. Technology is going to out run us at some point, our Chevy Cobalts are going to turn into Transformers and they’re gonna wipe us out. We know that already. Or some crazed dictator is gonna light the fuse on a nuclear bomb and WWIII is gonna take us all out.  I’m just saying we don’t need somebody reminding us all the time. Especially not the smartest guy in the world because that makes it even more real. So just shut up Stephen Hawking and let me eat ice cream and pretend everything is fine.
