HA! Nick Foles Is Getting Benched In Favor Of Case Keenum

PFT – The Nick Foles era is over in St. Louis. (There was one?) Rams coach Jeff Fisher announced this afternoon that he is benching Foles. Case Keenum is the Rams’ new starting quarterback. Fisher said he’s hoping that Keenum will provide an “offensive spark” for the team, which is reeling from back-to-back losses in which its offense failed to do much of anything.

LOLZ.

This isn’t a “Hell hath no fury like a depressed fan scorned” situation. Not in the slightest. Nick Foles was a great guy here and toughed it out physically and mentally through tons of criticism, even after the 27/2 mark and leading the Birds to the playoffs. I was rooting for him to do well in St. Louis as the trade looked like it was going to benefit all parties. But at least Sam Bradford still has the potential. Nick Foles has been downright inefficient:

Throwing for over 200 in only 1 game out of 10 is embarrassing, no matter what kind of talent (or lack there of) you have at the receiver position. And it’s not all Nick’s fault. If Foles had a mean bone in his body he’s whip out his weapon of mass destruction and end Fischer’s days as the Rams coach. Eddie George isn’t coming out of retirement and Steve McNair ain’t coming back from the dead to make you look good, Jeff. The best thing Foles can do is collect his $13+ million he’s guaranteed through this year then sign a deal when the Rams move to LA. Living out the rest of the career as the 2nd greatest position in sports (Backup QB 2, Bullpen Catcher 1) while tanning his hog on the beach seems like a certified win. He’s already got the millions and the Sunshine from Remember The Titans look for Cali. No need to stress the small stuff of being a NFL QB with that kind of heat in your corner.
