Taipei Times – Wanfang Hospital’s Obesity Prevention Center urged people to follow a balanced diet and exercise regularly, citing an example of a 47-year-old man who gave up surfing the Internet and started to exercise more and shed 154 lbs in one year, regaining control over his health. The man, surnamed Lin (?) said he had always been chubby growing up, but after being injured in a car accident about 10 years ago, he fell into a sedentary lifestyle and his weight ballooned. Lin said that for the past decade, he spent nearly all of his free time sitting in front of the television, surfing the Internet or sleeping, and would sometimes sit in front of the computer for six hours while eating deep-fried food. Lin is 5 foot 3 tall, but his weight increased to as much as 332 pounds at one point, and he was diagnosed with type II diabetes, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and high blood-sugar levels, as well as sleep apnea (pauses in breathing or instances of shallow or infrequent breathing during sleep), so he had to wear a continuous positive airway pressure nasal mask during sleep. “I always panted heavily when climbing stairs. For example, because I sleep on the third floor, I had to rest one or two times when climbing up three flights of stairs,” he said, adding that he finally decided to join a weight loss course at the hospital’s Obesity Prevention Center last year. Lin said that in addition to maintaining a balanced diet, he decided to cut off all Internet access at home and replaced his smartphone with a feature phone to force himself to go out more often and exercise. His weight dropped to 74kg in one year.

Mannn, fuck this guy. First of all, Lin was a 5 foot 2, 330 pound Asian. Thats outrageous. That translates to a 6 foot tall white man being about 600 pounds. So, its not exactly apples to apples. If I was that fucking fat I hope I’d quit the internet and get my ass outside and exercising too.

Luckily I’m not that fat. I’m just skinny fat. Which, in the long run, may actually be worse for me. I’m 6 foot 175 pounds. Not an ounce of muscle on me, and definitely horrendously unhealthy. But as long as that number on the scale is good, I aint changing shit. I’ll probably end up dying because on the inside I’m just as unhealthy as a fat person. I’m just trapped in a skinny body. Thats really all that matters to me though. Pretty much after high school ends I dont think being in actual shape matters at all. As long as you can fit in clothes and look decent, thats pretty much all that matters in my mind.

But even if I get truly fat-fat, there’s no way I’m quitting the internet. I’d rather be fat and dead than live internetless in 2015. Live fat, die young, and leave an ugly corpse that enjoyed a lifetime of seeing a bunch of awesome shit on the computer. People back in the day were all skinny because they were bored as fuck. Nothin better to do than run around in circles and shit. Nowadays you can watch porn and viral videos. Read some of the best writers on the internet. Listen to the best music. Watch the best movies. The internet is life. Take away the internet, and you have death. You may be skinny on the outside but you’re boring and dead on the inside. “Hey Lin, did you hear about XYZ?” “No I quit the internet and I just work out.” Awesome life, Lin. Might as well already be dead.
