Orca Lines Up a Seal And Punts That Thing To The Clouds In The Best Nature Video Of The Month

This group of whales is known as the T69s, with the lone male in the group making the spectacular kill on the harbour seal. His name is T69C, and he was born in 1995.

Let’s watch that one more time with feeling

That’s just a fantastic punt. Pure form, solid contact, perfect follow through. Got that seal up quick and the hangtime was magnificent. We’re talking 5 seconds in the air, 80 feet up, no chance for the seal to survive. I love that orcas dominate little animals like that. Sure it could casually swim over and eat the seal, but orcas simply enjoy playing with their food first. They have to keep shit interesting for themselves, being on top of the food chain and all. So they gamble on punt, pass, and kick contests with each other using baby seals as the ball.

PS: Who knew that whales traveled in gangs? The T69s is such a bad ass name for a gang. How mad is Gronk right now that he didn’t come up with that first?
