Anthony Edwards Became The Latest NBA Star To Miss Multiple Months Due To Injury
David Berding. Getty Images. The NBA is barely a week old, and the injury situation is starting to get out of hand. I mean this is getting ridiculous. So far this season we've seen
Jalen Williams
Cason Wallace
Jalen Suggs
Paolo Banchero
Kawhi Leonard
Jaren Jackson Jr
Ben Simmons
Ben Sheppard
Ariel Hukporti
Brandon Ingram
Jalen Duren
Max Strus
Jusuf Nurki
already get hurt, and almost all with major injuries. And just when you think things might finally slow down a little bit, here comes Shams with yet another bomb
Giphy Images.Oh what the hell. Enough already! Everyone say uncle! Mercy! Whatever we can do to finally stop whatever the hell is going on in the NBA right now. Is it the shorter preseason? The speed of the game? How do we explain what's been happening these last few years. I don't want to be a prisoner of the moment, but I can't ever remember this many players (star players at that) having serious injuries like this in the first week of the NBA season. Maybe it's just a coincidence, but probably not. When are things ever actually a coincidence? Something's up, and people smarter than me are going to have to figure it the hell out.
In terms of Anthony Edwards, just another devastating blow. Missing two months? And that's if everything goes great? Woof. That's killer. That's the type of thing that can fuck your whole season up, and the messed up part is the Wolves looked awesome! The Ant/LaMelo duo was even better than advertised, and the Wolves were must watch TV. For that to be ripped away like this? Brutal.
Then again, maybe the signs were there. The thing about NBA Twitter is it sees everything, and after seeing this Shams bomb I couldn't help but think of this tweet that I saw a few days ago

Something clearly wasn't right, and now we know. Anytime you hear the words "arthroscopic procedure" when it comes to the knees, that makes me nervous. That shit can zap you if it becomes a long term issue. For such an electric player like Ant, that would be devastating so I'm hoping for the best.
It's crazy to think that in the NBA's opening week, the Western Conference has been completely reshaped. OKC losing Jalen Williams and Cason Wallace for perhaps the season opened the path for a team just like the Wolves to make a push. Now, the Wolves have to deal with a serious knee issue with their best player that will keep him out for multiple months. If I'm the Rockets or Spurs, I'm now terrified. Something is making its way through the Western Conference contenders, and frankly I hate it. This was setting up to be an all time NBA season and we're being robbed of all the best players before we even get to Halloween! That's bullshit.
At the end of the day, it just goes to show that so much of what goes into each season is health. At the end of the day, that's all you pray for. A normal health season. With the way players are dropping these days, I'm not sure if there will be a team out there that gets one.
