IT'S REDEMPTION TIME - The Giants Are Reportedly Starting JJ McCarthy This Week, No-Brainer After His 4th Quarter On Sunday
Hell yes. Look, Jameis did for the most part what he had to. He won a couple games, tied a game which felt like a win and then played bad enough to give JJ McCarthy a chance. Doing all of that while we're winning the NFC East right now and Jameis gets to go back to his natural role. Backup quarterback.
It was a no-brainer to play JJ at this point. We saw what he did in the 4th quarter
Now it's time to do it against the Texans defense. That's even more reason to play JJ McCarthy. You need someone who can move in the pocket. Jameis, as much as we love him, he's old. We don't run as fast when we get old. Sometimes you get injured when you try to run when you get old. It's also not like he was out there zipping the ball around. So with that in mind, you gotta play the guy who can at least maybe make a play with his legs.
Plus, there's no downside here for the Giants with McCarthy. Well, outside of winning the NFC East, but you all of a sudden might have an asset. Whether that's a guy who brings us to the playoffs this year or a trade asset or you just find out he stinks for a 6th rounder, whatever. The guy looked good in the 4th quarter and it's time to play him. That's what made this the easy call.
Get the playmakers out there now, Harbaugh. Don't keep benching Skattebo. Get the ball to Nabers and Likely (and Fields). Let JJ's redemption tour start now that he's a starter. Thanks Jameis for the NFC East lead, but it's time. It's Nine x 2 time.
