College Sports In 2026: Chad Ochocinco Is Offering $2 Million Of His Own Money To Keep Star WR Jesse Legree At Oregon State
I don't think anyone at this point of the season is shocked by Jesse Legree. The dude is unreal. He's been one of the two best receivers in the country this year with Jeremiah Smith. He just happens to play at Oregon State, who got absolutely fucked over and over and over again by conference realignment. We don't think of Oregon State, which is a joke. Same goes for Washington State. Anyways, this isn't about conference realignment, although it kind of is. You see, the moment someone like a Legree shows up for Oregon State, looks like a Heisman finalist and is putting numbers like this, you hear transfer portal and money.
Well, here comes Chad Ochocinco:
A pretty insane statement, but it's also college sports in 2026. If you have any rich alumni, you should be begging them for money like this. Again, I don't care about NIL, it's the transfer portal that sucks way more. You gotta try to find ways to keep your stars. If it's $2 million from a former Oregon State legend, so be it. Call Gary Payton up, see what he can do.
I do wish we weren't at this stage though. We can barely get halfway through the season before we hear 'what school will he transfer to' if a guy looks good early. If it's offseason, fine, go ahead. But let's just talk football during football season. Oregon State already got screwed by conference realignment, the least we can do is let them keep their awesome players. That seems like a fair trade.
