Todd Bowles Played Scared Football And Lost Another Game For The Buccaneers With Poor Decision Making

This is a pretty cool moment with Buccaneers 1st round pick Rueben Bain Jr. getting his first career sack. But I want to highlight something. Look at the clock and situation.

- It's 13-0 Bucs on top.

- They just got a sack on a 3rd down, so Pittsburgh will have to punt the ball.

- The Steelers are at THEIR OWN 22 (that's key)

- Tampa Bay has two timeouts left

Take a look at the play-by-play:

This play was coming out of a Steelers timeout. And after the Bain sack dropped Rodgers, there was about 2:37 left. So instead of taking one of your two timeouts and being aggressive to try and add to the lead, Bowles decided to try and stand pat on the 13-0 lead and take that into half.

I called it out on the stream in real-time. This was crazy.

I realize the Buccaneers, led by undrafted rookie Quarterback Jalon Daniels aren't the greatest show on turf. But with about 2:25 left, the two minute warning, and a timeout in your pocket, you can be aggressive and look for a knockout OR you can still run the ball, take it to the two and regroup to see how you want to proceed with your drive with more information on 2nd down.

But did Todd Bowles do that? Nope.

Now hey, credit to the Steelers. They bombed that punt 53 yards out of bounds and totally flipped the field. But when the Bucs were taking snaps, there was 1:52 on the clock, so now you're in full two minute and not looking to run the ball first. An errant throw, a false start, those things derailed that drive.

Would they have derailed that if there was 2:25 left on the clock? Maybe. But you've got to be aggressive and try and step on the Steelers throats! Todd clearly did not and while that may have been just a small example, it's a consistent example that he's shown throughout his tenure as Head Coach. He just does not make the right decisions in tight situations, almost ever.

The Buccaneers lost this game in overtime despite leading 16-3 going into the 4th Quarter. It was a valiant effort by the defense for three quarters, but they just were gassed and couldn't adjust to Aaron Rodgers and the short passing game in the 4th Quarter and Overtime and the Bucs now sit at 1-5. The season is not completely lost as they have two division games in the next two weeks, but it's on life support and the best thing that can come of this miserable season so far is Todd Bowles is no longer coaching this team next year. As the late, great Owen Hart once said, "Enough is enough and it's time for a change!"
