Last Night Was A Perfect Reminder That We Need To Force All Sports Teams To Wear Their Best Jerseys And Stop These New Terrible Looks
I'm not taking the contrarian side here or anything. It's not even that hot of a take. But everyone saw it last night. We saw the Broncos and Seahawks wearing their throwback jerseys, two of the absolute best looks in all of sports and everyone in the world went, 'they should wear these all the time.'
Yeah, no shit. I love PFT's idea of making teams wear their best look for an entire year. Every time we see throwbacks, we talk about how awesome they are and it's even nostalgia. I'm a child of the 80s, so, yeah, that look last night was nostalgic for me, but when people in their 20s are saying how awesome it looks, just do it. Think about jerseys these days to the throwback look. There's not one single look now that's better than what we had before.
Even some of the best current uniforms - Chargers, Brewers, Padres - are just variations of what they used to wear. You tell me what's better with some of these looks:

The Magic had some elite jerseys. I even like the Rockets rocket logo. Then you look at that new picture. It's all plain. It's all the same look for every team. It all sucks. Everything is generic and very few teams have some sort of identity with their jerseys outside of team colors. NFL even:

It should be Giants on the helmet vs kelly green. I know the whole reason here is money and the leagues/teams/design want people to spend money on new jerseys and all this stuff. I just hate it all.
Hell, think of the NBA. We have 6 different looks for each team. We have no idea who is home or who is away half the time. Even the Lakers, a team who never changed their look, is getting away from the classic purple and gold. I'll say this too. If you're the home team, you wear white. If you're the road team, you wear your color jersey. It's not that hard.
So congrats to the Broncos and Seahawks, they reminded the world how good we had it. We should make them do it all the time, because this is what it's going to look like going forward
