A Big Reason to Be Rooting for the Brewers: Legendary Milwaukee Super Fan 'Front Row Amy'
In this most recent episode of Dirty Water, the three handsome gentlemen who answer to the names of Hogdale, Mut and Old Balls were of course discussing the Patriots re-establishing themselves as a dominant force in the NFL, among other football topics. Until the very end, when I brought up the topic of the MLB playoffs.
We were all in agreement that the best case scenario would be anyone but the Dodgers making it to the World Series, if for no other reason than it would mean two VERY small market teams competing for the trophy, making it virtually impossible for the owners to justify shutting down 2027 in the name of payroll equity, or whatever term their using this time around. (Granted, it would also mean the Red Sox would use it to justify cheaping out because they'll argue spending money doesn't equate to success or whatever. But at least there'll actually be a season for them to be also-rans in.)
What I forgot to mention in this high-level discussion between three towering intellects, was another reason to root for Milwaukee. Not simply that brewers have done so much good in this world, while dodgers have only been a factor in Oliver Twist and the Vietnam War. It's because of the Brewers fan who has begun to capture hearts around the country, after being a staple of Milwaukee baseball for years.
In fact, captured the imagination of Jason Whitlock. Who, when he's not ineffectively trying to start a Holy War with Dave Portnoy:

Source - So who is Amy Williams? We're here to help you out. Her nickname is Front Row Amy -- because she sits in the front row of Brewers games and keeps score. She's a native of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and she's been seen rooting on the Brewers in their NLDS win earlier this month..
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel caught up with Williams, who said Jackson Chourio's walk-off single in Game 2 of the NLDS came on her birthday -- what a gift! She also said she watched her first Brewers game on TV in 2007 while recovering from surgery and attended her first game with her husband soon after that.
Season tickets came after that, and now she's known as one of baseball's biggest fans.
And scorebook on her lap at every game, Front Row Amy is like a living, breathing answer to the question, "What happened to Sloane Peterson after she grew up?"
If she left Chicago but stayed in the Midwest and switched team loyalty, that is.
I admit, I shared Whitlock's ignorance on Front Row Amy's fame until this series. I confess to not watching a lot of Brewers games. And even then, usually only the ones where they come to Fenway. Wisconsin to me is the perfect example of "Faraway place with strange-sounding names. Like her home town of Oshkosh. Or Green Bay. I know the Kenosha Kickers are big in Sheboygan. And everything I know about Milwaukee I learned from Alice Cooper:

So "Front Row Amy" Williams is all new and exciting to me. And just what America needs in this time of division and animosity. Someone we can rally behind. And root for her. The idea of her jumping up and down with the unabashed glee that can only come from seeing the team you've supported for decades reward you faith, is what will be keeping me going through this postseason. But if the Brewers can't close out the NLCS in LA, and it has to go back to Milwaukee for another game or two, that's acceptable. As long as she gets to the World Series and all her wishes come true.
From one member of her generation to another, Go, Brewers. The have a fan in Amy, and now one in me.
