The Knicks Championship Somehow Just Got Sweeter Now That Reggie Miller Will Be Front And Center At Madison Square Garden As The Knicks Unveil Their Banner And Rings On Opening Night

Look, I know Reggie Miller is a terrible announcer and listening to him call any basketball game is horrible, let alone when he calls a Knicks game. But if a few hours of outdated Kodak references and takes that sound like they came from the most casual NBA fan is what Knicks fans have to endure for their biggest boogeyman of the 90s to see the franchise he haunted raise a banner and present rings he was never able to secure for his team, I'll consider it an absolute win.

I have no problem admitting Reggie gutted me as a Knicks fan a bunch of times and all those feelings were churned up when Tyrese Haliburton hit that shot bounced to Heaven before sending the Knicks to Hell then immediately gave the old Reggie choke sign was Reggie smiled from the broadcasting table. But the beautiful thing about your team going on one of the most incredible postseason runs ever and winning a title that your rival could never win is that it instantly turns those nightmarish moments into essentially bad dreams from the past that ended up just being speed bumps to that legendary banner going up, as this video sums up perfectly.

The minute OG's tip-in sank and essentially put a Knicks title one game away (h/t KAT's tip of the final pass of the game), all those demons were on their way out of haunting Knicks fans' minds. We now have our own boogeyman in Jalen Brunson that comes through in the biggest moments. The only difference between Brunson and Reggie is that Brunson actually came through on the biggest stage to lead his team to a title, with resulted in old Pacers nemesis Patrick Ewing getting a ring and I cannot put into words how satisfying it will be seeing Reggie sit in the cuck chair as he watches that beautiful banner unveiled to hang in the MSG rafters forever.
