21-Year-Old Didier Fuentes Used His Massive Balls To Get 11 Consecutive Outs Against the Dodgers and Flip the NLDS On Its Head
Holy cow, what a performance from 21-year-old Didier Fuentes, who came into Game 2 of the NLDS with the Braves clinging to a one-run lead in the sixth inning and retired the first 11 batters he faced before Max Muncy got the best of him with a homer in the ninth. The Atlanta bullpen was stretched to the limit and the rookie came in and not only saved the day, but nearly put together four perfect innings in what would have been one of the most heroic pitching performances of all-time.
Walt Weiss made a pretty risky decision to not use Chris Sale on Sunday — which was much maligned and could have been disastrous — but the Braves now have Sale and Tyler Mahle lined up for two games at home in a tied series. What a turn of events.
Shoutout to Didi Fuentes, man. What an effort. Raisel Iglesias came in and got the final out for him and now we go to Atlanta 1-1 with Sale on the bump. LFG.
