A Fan Found Colorado's Playbook in the Team Hotel and It Turned Out To Be 100% Real With Their Actual Drive Scripts
We use the word "inexcusable" a lot in sports for on-field mistakes or things that happen in the heat of competition. But I've truly never seen anything more inexcusable than someone on Colorado's staff apparently leaving a playbook and game script at the hotel bar where a Texas Tech fan could find it. This is insane.
There's the famous story of Mike Leach drawing up a fake script and dropping it on the Texas sideline, giving the Sooners a 17-0 lead in the Red River Shootout before the Longhorns realized they'd been duped. But this is the exact opposite of that in every way. The script was real, it was not dropped intentionally and it was not done by someone particularly smart.
Based on the fact Colorado went down the field and scored a touchdown on its opening drive, I'm guessing nobody on the Red Raider Sports board was able to get VivaTerlingua in touch with anyone on the Texas Tech staff. And what a shame that is, because this guy had the keys to a Lamborghini and nobody to drive it.
The good news for TTU is that opening drive would be the only points the Buffaloes would score all night and the Red Raiders cruised to a 29-7 victory. If Colorado had managed to pull an upset and this came out, I'd be apoplectic if I were a Texas Tech fan.
Just add it to the list of mishaps under Coach Prime at Colorado. Things don't seem great out there right now.
