Montana State Called The Dumbest Timeout Ever Last Night

Time and score folks. Time and score. Applies to all sports (well those with a clock anyway). I just don’t understand how we see game after game week after week in some of the biggest environments and levels and some of these guys just either don’t know how to do it well or crumble in the biggest spots with full blown brain farts.

Just an absolute blunder of all blunders last night as Montana State somehow decides to call a timeout with a second left and Idaho scrambling to run a play. I think it was a bang bang call to say he went down with 1 second left on the clock, but either way if you are Montana State- you have the advantage. They will spot the ball and then Idaho is scrambling to run something. They’d be lucky to hear a play from the sidelines, they can’t change personnel, they are in a legit fire drill. Montana State has all the advantage there. To call a timeout immediately evens it back out. Idaho can catch their breath, set up a play, know what to do etc. Bafflingly stupid by Montana State and it ends up costing them the game. Really bizarre. You just don’t expect that from a coach like Brent Vigen with a 66-13 career record. Also, no matter who they are or how long their coaching - should a coach literally have a guy stand by him at all times and be his clock management guy? We see too much of this.
