When you finally reach the top of the mountain and secure a Larry of your own, I'm of the belief that you then have clearance to bring up the receipts and talk all the shit you want. That's one of the perks of being the Champ. Nobody can tell you shit for as long as you have the Larry. 

When the Knicks obtained their Larry, I think most expected the players to talk their shit, especially given the years of disrespect that their best players have received over the years. Instead, Jalen Brunson decided to be the bigger person during their parade

which admittedly was actually pretty great. I think that played even better than if he called out those who didn't believe in him and told them to kiss the ring.

When it came to KAT, I fully expected some sort of shit talking given how people played with his name these last few years. I would make the case that KAT's playoff run this year should completely change your perception of who he is as a player. For years, he was called soft, not a winning player etc. Given what we've see since he got to the Knicks, especially in the postseason, I think that argument is dead. And still, we didn't hear much from him when it came to talking shit.

Thankfully, his Dad is apparently more than willing to step up to the plate and talk the shit for him, especially at Jimmy Butler

Now this is what I'm talking about! What a perfect "No Larry?" dig by KAT Sr. That's also another incredible part of being a champ both as a player and a fan. Being able to "No Larry?" people/fanbases that don't have one hits like crack every single time. 

It's certainly no secret that KAT and Butler have beef that dates back to their days together with the Wolves. There was the infamous practice where Butler basically called all of his teammates giant pussies and trash, and they'd never win without him etc, then a few years later they went at eachother where Butler again called KAT soft as baby shit and a loser

So I'd say the fact that KAT not only has a title but was a HUGE reason why the Knicks won the title for his play on both ends of the floor, KAT Sr is fully within his right to talk his shit towards Jimmy Butler and troll him for not having a ring (and probably never will). Unfortunately for Butler, there's no response to that dig. The only response is to lift a Larry of your own, and I don't think that's in the Warriors' or Jimmy Butler's immediate future. 

You know deep down KAT probably wanted to talk his own shit, but like Brunson, he's been the bigger person. Nowhere does it say his family/camp has to operate the same way, so even though this is coming from his dad, you know this is how KAT feels as well, as every Champion should. I would argue all that shit with Butler played a pretty big role in how KAT was perceived as a player, even if we now can conclude none of it was true. It's poetic that both Andrew Wiggins and KAT have titles of their own since that practice, and Butler is the one who is actually ringless. That's Basketball Karma at its finest. 

Speaking of KAT, what exactly is James Dolan doing when it comes to his pending extension? It's almost as if he's tempting the Basketball Gods to shut their championship window the second it finally opened. They already lost Mitchell Robinson because Dolan didn't want to go into the 2nd apron, and now they're dicking around when it comes to KAT's extension after the way he played during their run?

I can understand taking a slight haircut when it comes to your extension to no longer be a 35% cap hit, but that type of drop? No shit he hasn't signed. His player option is for $61M! So the idea there is he turns that down to take an $11M paycut? No chance. I do think he eventually signs somewhere closer to 30-32% of the cap or closer to his player option number, but if that's the hard line that the Knicks are taking, I'm not sure it works out in their favor. Then you enter the world where you need to decide to risk a player playing on his player option and then leaving for nothing, or potentially trading him before that happens. Technically, that would be during the Knicks title defense season, which would be INSANE. I just refuse to believe that's where we'll end up, but that's the reality when you don't reach an extension and the team then needs to bring in the best possible return. Nobody is going to give up shit for a 1 year rental only for that player to hit the market, so it'll be fascinating to see how this all plays out.
