If you weren't aware, and you definitely were NOT, the WNBA Playoffs are already in full swing. And FYI their opening round is only a best-of-3, so last night the Indiana Fever had their backs against the wall being down 0-1 at home. As you can see above, Caitlin Clark did what she's done all season long... Be the best player on the court AND absolute FACE OF THE LEAGUE.

Of course CC still has to prove she can get it done on the road and will get that chance on Thursday night for Game 3. Certainly won't be easy going against A'ja Wilson & the Aces, although judging from A'ja's actions in Game 2 maybe the mental battle has already been won.
The 4x MVP who MANY media pundits proclaim is the "real" face of the league had one of the most embarrassing moments I've ever seen in a sporting event, period. After what should've been a clear offensive foul called on her, a Fever fan in the front row stood up and pointed at A'ja to allegedly declare, "THAT'S ON YOU". Oh, the horror! But apparently it was actually insidious enough to make her charge the crowd, enter his seating area, and attempt to get him kicked out while screaming in his face. Welcome back, Ronald Artest!
Truly pathetic stuff for a supposedly professional sports league. Dude literally just stood up and pointed from the baseline seats he probably paid a pretty penny for. Also worth noting, security DID talk to him and it was CONFIRMED he didn't say anything racist, derogatory, or otherwise. So after being briefly kicked out, he was allowed to return to his seat. But he did NOT get an apology from A'ja. Judging from her postgame comments, wouldn't hold my breath for that.

Impressively tone-deaf response from her. Impossible to root for someone that full of themselves who seems allergic to taking accountability. And I wanna ask a question here but also don't want to offend, so just keep mind I'm saying this with all due respect…
Are some WNBA players still not used to having actual fans in their arena? I know it was tough times a few years ago before Caitlin came along with mostly empty seats in every stadium. Granted I know nothing about the pressures of being a pro athlete, but a half step forward & fierce finger point doesn't seem all that offensive to me. A'ja should treat herself to a NFL game or even just peruse a casual scroll on NFL Twitter if she wants to see how invasive fans can really be. Not for the faint of heart.
And I'm not saying any horrific actions from those fans are justified either. They're terrible too. I just think it's a little disingenuous to cry wolf about a very mild situation that anyone with eyeballs & a functioning brain can see was a big nothing burger. It's fucking COMPETITION. Trash talk amongst rivals is allowed.
But let's be frank, this blog has gone on FAR too long. Mainly just wanted to see what the comment section would cook up reacting to this one, so have at it boys. All I know is, Sophie Cunningham better whip out a wicked point the second Game 3 tips off on Thursday.
