The USC Radio Call of the Hit on Dante Moore Takes Homerism to a Dangerous Level

Uhhhh ... what in the world?

Imagine being a USC fan listening to that on the radio and then getting home and seeing the hit that is described in that clip. A reasonable person would think to himself, "Holy cow, there was a SECOND terrible hit to Dante Moore?" because there's no way what you heard described in that clip could possibly be the incident everyone saw.

And yet, USC radio play-by-play man Pete Arbogast remained adamant that the Desman Stephens hit to Moore was actually Moore's fault. Even while watching the replay of Moore clearly sliding as quarterbacks are taught to do and getting absolutely leveled, Arbogast described Moore's movement as, "... not a feet-first slide, more of a knee slide."

That prompted this great screenshot from analyst Shaun Cody, who was doing everything in his power to not rip his partner live on air:

Everyone from USC seemingly went out of their way to make this situation much worse than it needed to be. The hit from Stephens would not have been one of the dirtiest we've ever seen if he acted like a normal person afterwards and showed an ounce of concern for the guy lying motionless on the field. The Trojans' play-by-play guy was running a propaganda outlet for Stephens up in the booth to an audience of people who had to be stunned when they saw what he was actually describing. Just insane all the way around.

Credit to Dan Lanning for handling everything the way he did, because the fact this did not escalate into a brawl is miraculous.
