She Crushed Em! Miss Watermelon Wins Big At Presque Isle To Become The Second Winner For The Growing Go Go Greys Stable

You just can't stop Go Go Greys Stable in Pennsylvania.

After Wondergirl Carly won her career debut at Parx Race Course outside Pennsylvania last October, Miss Watermelon broke through at Presque Isle Race Course on Monday afternoon, winning her first race in her fifth career start. 

Miss Watermelon was coming off a flat effort at Saratoga a few weeks ago. She seemed to tire late in the race with no real excuse. Credit trainer Kelsey Danner for finding a good spot for Miss Watermelon's next race, the Maiden Special Weight event Monday in Erie, PA.

Miss Watermelon had been training lights out before that Saratoga race. On Monday, she was able to run to those works to win going away. 

She's had some gate issues in the past, but she got away well on Monday. Sent off as the big 2/5 favorite, she sat off the leader into the far turn, traveling comfortably. When jockey Gaddiel Martinez asked, Miss Watermelon responded big-time. She kicked away in the lane and cruised home to win by over six lengths. She looked professional as she crossed the wire an easy winner. 

That's 2 for 2 now in Pennsylvania for Go Go Greys. Winning races is hard - great win for the whole team. The stable is up to close to 40 horses and two broodmares.

If you're in the New York area, you'll have a chance to see Go Go Greys live on Thursday at the renovated Belmont Park as the big horse, Lovely Grey, runs in the Winter Memories Stakes. She will not be 2-to-5, as she faces a Grade 3 field filled with talented turf horses. But she'll be a live longshot, and with some racing luck, she can make some noise late. 

Looking forward to seeing her run and checking out the new Belmont Park. I think Dave will be in attendance, too.
