The Cabo Verde Goalkeeper Vozinha Says He Misses His Old Life After Gaining 28 Million Instagram Followers During His Viral World Cup Run

Listen, I know what a lot of you are probably thinking. You made millions of dollars and got millions of followers and a ton of sponsorship opportunities and will set your family up for generations, what could be so bad? A quick Google search tells me that Vozinha made $9-10k a month for a $120,000 annual salary before his viral World Cup run. If you don't remember Vozinha, here's a recap from earlier this summer:

Kinda crazy that the World Cup was only a few months ago. It feels like that was two years ago at this point. Anyway, I do kinda feel for this fella. It's not like he wanted to go viral by absolutely stonewalling everyone he faced in the World Cup on the biggest sports stage on the entire planet!

I donno man, I'd probably take the loss of peace and tranquility and peace if it meant all the benefits of being a superstar. But different strokes for different folks. He did say he would "prefer his old life" as opposed to the one he has now which is kinda sad to hear. It would be annoying to be out for groceries and people are coming up to you asking if you're "that guy from the World Cup". But that's the social contract you sign by becoming an athlete and playing in the World Cup against juggernauts like Spain.
