Age Is Just A Number...64 Year Old "Unc" Is A Certified Hooper

That's the good stuff. I have written and spoke about basketball being a beautiful thing. Whether it's games on an outdoor court, and appreciating a new setting,

having a cold one after a men's league game ...

Your favorite team finally winning a title

or burying yourself on the couch and appreciating a winter night of college hoops, etc. Basketball is a beautiful thing, and sometimes those games of pick up really give you a great few hours. It's your little escape, at least it was for me. More often than not - full blown strangers, all looking for a good run, minimal arguing, getting the competitive juices flowing. Having a good "run" seems rare these days, but when you find one they are cherished. Sunday nights at the Y, tuesdays at the old high school etc. A perfect way to push your body and make a couple of shots in the process.

Shoutout to this "unc" as the kids say. 64 and running the court. The definition of a "crafty vet". The true sign of a guy who's been around the block. Knows his strengths, and weaknesses, his highlights and his limitations- and when and where to use them or how to hide them. It's always awesome to watch guys this old still be out there balling. It's always always impressive how they find a way to make the game go their way. Me and Pat played with a guy who was 60+ last summer and he would have gotten blown by guys in a 40 yard dash but figured out a way to make the game his speed. It's also always funny to me to watch guys this old be basically the mayor of these runs. Everyone knows them, everyone respects them, they always know the score (more important than you think) and they make sure the games flow and no riff raff ruin the day. Fantastic for this guy to keep playing at this age, and more impressively play well. Basketball is beautiful.
